Effective date: 16 July 2026
MoMudra ("the app") is developed by Diptiranjan Rout ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what leaves your device. The short version: your financial data belongs to you and stays with you.
Transactions, budgets, income, saving goals, and recurring expenses are stored locally on your iPhone. We operate no user accounts and keep no copy of your financial records on our servers.
If you enable iCloud Backup & Sync (a MoMudra Pro feature), your data is stored in your personal, private iCloud database managed by Apple and encrypted in transit and at rest. We cannot read, access, or recover it — only your Apple ID can. You can turn sync off at any time in Profile → Data & Backup.
AI features are off until you turn them on. The first time you try to use one, the app shows you exactly what will be sent and to whom, and asks for your permission. Nothing is sent to any AI provider unless you agree. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Profile → Privacy, which immediately stops all AI features; the rest of the app continues to work.
When you use an AI feature (AI logging, Ask AI, insights, monthly report), the following is sent over an encrypted connection:
Your name, email address, Apple ID, contacts, photos, location, and your full transaction history are never sent to an AI provider.
Requests go first to our own server, which holds the API credentials and forwards the request to Anthropic, PBC (the Claude API), which processes the request and returns the generated response. Anthropic is the only third-party AI provider that receives data from the released app.
Because requests are routed through our server, Anthropic does not receive your name, email, Apple ID, IP address or device identifiers.
We use Anthropic's commercial API, under business terms which provide protection equivalent to that described in this policy: your inputs are processed solely to generate the response, are not used to train their models, are not sold or shared with data brokers, and are not used for advertising or profiling. We do not store your requests or the responses on our servers after the response is returned.
When you dictate a transaction, the audio is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition — on your device where your device and language support it, and otherwise by Apple's servers. Audio never reaches our servers and is never sent to Anthropic; only the resulting text is, and only if you have allowed AI features.
If you never turn on AI features, no spending information leaves your device (except via your own iCloud sync, if you enable it).
To understand which features are used and to protect the service from abuse, the app sends anonymous usage events to our server. Each event contains only: an event name (e.g. "AI parse succeeded"), a random install identifier generated on first launch, the app version, build channel, platform, and a timestamp.
Analytics never include transaction contents, amounts, merchant names, notes, your name, email, contacts, precise location, or any advertising identifier. The random install ID is not linked to your identity, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
If you use Sign in with Apple, the name and email Apple shares are stored only on your device (in the system keychain) to personalize the app. We do not transmit them to our servers.
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
Because your financial data lives on your device (and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud database), we retain no copy of your records on our servers. Your data is kept for as long as you keep it — it stays until you delete it or remove the app. AI requests are not stored after the response is returned, and anonymous analytics events (which contain no personal identifiers) are retained in anonymous, aggregate form used only to operate and protect the service.
You can erase everything at any time: Profile → Delete all data removes all app data from your device. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can also remove the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → MoMudra.
MoMudra is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
